2020 Military Veteran Fishing Trip

Dates – Friday, September 4th through Saturday, September 12th, 2020 – Labor Day Week/Weekend – FREE Bus trip to Temple Bay Lodge is available for those who wish to fly into one of the bus pickup destinations. Otherwise – you can drive directly into Temple Bay Lodge. – Bring your own boat if you’d like!

Multiple people traveling together will stay in the same cabin together.

Individuals traveling alone – we will (try) our best to accommodate, getting you your own cabin.

Temple Bay Lodge is located 120 Miles North of International Falls, MN. on World Famous Eagle Lake. Situated in the deep woods of Northwestern Ontario, they are known for having some of the best fishing for Walleye, Muskie, Northern, Smallmouth Bass and Perch.

Eagle Lake is over 68,000 acres in size – and is over 70 miles long! It has 400 miles of wooded shoreline and over 400 islands and bays. Because of this, Temple bay also offers “fully guided” fishing excursions in a 20’ full windshield 150hp boat. This excursion includes a walleye shore lunch (daily).

NOTE!! – We will have nightly – FREE raffles – for Veterans – with prizes including: Rod/Reel combo’s, Fishing Gear, Clothing and MUCH MORE! The GRAND PRIZE is a 1-week all expense paid trip BACK to Temple Bay Lodge in 2021!

Operation Fishing Freedom will also be filming TWO episodes that week! You will be able to witness the making of an episode!

Packages include FREE bus ride – all meals, lodging, boat, motor and gas. The meals served – are of the best quality and prepared by highly skilled cooks. Special dietary considerations are available upon request.

For non-guided fishing trips – you will receive an upgraded 18’ boat with new 50hp/60hp outboards with Minn-Kota i-Pilot electric trolling motors – available in side console or tiller models. They are equipped with GPS depth finders, live wells and bilge pumps.

Cabins are fully modern and cozy with single beds or queen beds for couples. They are furnished with a small refrigerator, air conditioning/heat, coffee maker and microwave. Prices include made-to-order breakfasts and nightly dinners at the lodge.


  • $99.00/Night/Person – If you drive up (no bus) and bring your own boat – No Guide days included in this price!
  • $1,569.00/Person – Includes bus ride, 7 nights (8 Days) lodging & meals AND 1 Day FREE GUIDE!!
  • Additional for Guides – $400/Day + Tip – 2 PEOPLE PER BOAT! (Ex. NOTE! One person CANNOT take a guide for 1 day for $200).

Payment Terms:

  • $500 Security deposit due upon registration
    • Security deposit is fully refundable until July 1st, 2020
  • Balance of trip (PAID IN FULL) due on or before July 1st, 2020
    • NO REFUNDS will be issued after July 1st 2020 – EXCEPT a medial emergency with a doctors note.
    • Any FINAL payments NOT made before July 1st 2020 will forfeit their security deposit & their available trip spot.

NOTE! Tipping the workers at Temple Bay is encouraged, but NOT mandatory. Below are SUGGESTED tip amounts:

  • Guides (suggested tip is $50/person/day) = $350/Person/Week
  • Dock Hands – $20/Person/Week
  • Meal Servers (Waitresses) – $5/Person/Meal (Breakfast/Dinner – Only) = $70/Week
  • Cooks – $20/Person/Week
  • Housekeeping – $20/Person/Week

Lunch Menu

  • For Guided Fishing Trips – Guide will prepare shore lunch upon request
  • Without Guide – Temple Bay will furnish the Coleman stove, pans and all the fixings for you to prepare your fresh fish on the shore. Flour, cooking oil, beans, potatoes, bread and butter, vegetables, Salt & Pepper
  • Bag Lunch – Sandwiches, potato chips, fresh fruit, cookies & condiments

Dinner Menu

  • Saturday – Tailgate Party – Burgers, Brats or Steak Sandwiches, Potato Salad & all the trimmings
  • Sunday – ½ Chicken, Fries, Gravy, Coleslaw & Apple Pie
  • Monday – Meatloaf, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes & Spinach Salad
  • Tuesday – BBQ Ribs, Red Potatoes & Broccoli & Cheesecake
  • Wednesday – Prime Rib, Baked Potatoes & Carrots
  • Thursday – Roast Pork or Pork Chops, Baby Red Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy. Mixed Vegetables & Greek Salad
  • Friday – Lasagna or Spaghetti, Garlic Toast & Brownies

Trip details:

If you would like to take a luxury coach bus (FREE) into Temple Bay Lodge – from one of the bus pick up locations, here are the details:

  • Bus pick up location #1 – Friday, September 4th, 2020 The bus will depart the Chicago Illinois area pick up location (just a 15-20 minute cab ride from O’Hare International Airport) at 4:30pm SHARP. Please arrive NO LATER than 3:30pm!
    • Bus Pick Up Location: Super 8 Motel – 2951 Touhy Ave. Elk Grove Village, IL. – Parking for the week is available for a fee.
  • Bus pick up location #2 – Friday September 4th, 2020 The bus will depart the Madison Wisconsin area pick up location (just a 30 minute cab ride from Madison International Airport) at APPROXIMATELY 6:30pm– 7:00pm. (It is roughly a 2 hour drive from Elk Grove Village, IL. – Pick up location #1 – to Madison, Wi. – Pick up location #2).
    • Bus Pick Up Location – Madison, WI. : Shell Station – I-90/94 – Exit 132, Madison, WI. – NO PARKING AVAILABLE
  • Bus Pick up location #3 – Saturday, September 5th, 2020 Bus will depart the Duluth, MN. Pick up location at APPROXIMATELY Midnight -12:30am Saturday morning. (It is roughly a 5 hour drive – with a bus driver change – from Madison, Wi. To Duluth, MN.)
    • Bus Pick Up Location – Duluth, MN. : Home Depot – Hwy. 53 (Trinity Rd.) and Miller Trunk Hwy (194); 1101 Mall Drive, Duluth MN. – FREE Parking in the Home Depot Lot
  • Bus will then travel through the night (approximately a 14 hour bus ride from Elk Grove Village, IL.) to Temple Bay Lodge – and arrive at Temple Bay Lodge at APPROXIMATELY 7am on Saturday, September 5th.

If you would like to drive up in your own car (and bring your own boat – or use a Temple Bay boat), plan on arriving at Temple Bay Lodge on Saturday morning – September 5th, 2020 and staying until Saturday, September 12th 2020.

There will be 7 days of fishing – Saturday, September 5th through Friday, September 11th. The bus will depart at 7:00am on Saturday, September 12th and do the reverse trip for drop off locations. The bus should arrive in Elk Grove Village, IL. at approximately 9pm on Saturday, September 12th, 2020.

Please NOTE the following items:

  • You MUST bring your own passport!
    • For ANYONE traveling into Canada with a previous DUI or ANY criminal record – you MUST call the Canadian Boarder Patrol (1-807-274-3655 ext. 239 or 240) and get any necessary paperwork BEFORE booking your tip!
      • ANYONE who is on the bus – that is not permitted into Canada – will need to find their own transportation home! YOU WILL BE LEFT AT THE BOARDER!
    • You must apply for (online) and receive your Canadian fishing license AND Outdoor card.
    • For guided fishing trips – There will be a minimum of 2 people per boat (possibly 3 people per boat if fishing for Walleye). If you are traveling alone, you will be paired up in a boat with another Veteran – fishing for the same species.

You must bring:

  • Clothing
  • Rain suit
  • Fishing Tackle (Rods & Reels, Tackle Box, etc. – Fishing Nets will be provided)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug repellant – although bugs are NOT bad that time of year!

Packages include:

  • Transportation via FREE bus to Temple Bay Lodge
  • YOU provide your own fishing gear (or Operation Fishing Freedom can help you)
  • 7 Days fishing & 7 nights accommodations
  • Daily maid service
  • If you are NOT selecting the “guided fishing package” you will get an 18ft boat with 50hp/60hp motor, trolling motor & fish finder – PLEASE NOTE! YOU ARE RESPOSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO THE BOAT!
